How to maintain measurements for Registered Products

$
0
0

Starting from release 1508 it's possible to maintain measurements for Registered Products .

This feature is useful for maintenance scenarios where based on a reading an action has to be taken e.g., service a car once it has traveled 10,000 KM.

View and if required maintain Units of Measure :

SAP ships standard trading units and physical units . It's possible to create new units as well.

A fine tuning activity called Quantities and Units of Measure is used for this purpose .

3.jpg

Clicking on Quantities and Units of Measure will open the following screen -

4.jpg

As you can see it's possible to view/maintain Trading Units and Physical Units .

Clicking on Create and Maintain Physical Units will open the screen seen below . All the units pre-delivered by SAP are visible .User can also create new units of measurement if required (must begin with Z).

5.jpg

Maintain Measurement Attributes :

The next step would be to maintain Measurement Attributes .e.g., Distance Traveled , Oil Temperature ,Air temperature, Air pressure etc.

Multiple measurement attributes can use the same unit of measure .

As shown in image below , we need to go to Administrator Work Center and then choose Service and Social

6.jpg

Next click on the link named Configure Measurement Attributes .

7.jpg

There is a list which will show all the measurement attributes in the system .

It's also possible to create new measurement attributes as shown in below image and once created they can also be edited .

8.jpg

Note : Characteristics in SAP ERP can be replicated as measurement attributes in SAP C4C .

Configuration needed to enable manual creation of Measurement Attributes from UI :

It's possible to manually create Measurement Attributes from above UI only if the option to replicate Marketing Attributes from SAP CRM is switched OFF as shown below .

Note that both Marketing Attributes and Measurement Attributes are based on a single object called BusinessAttribute .

If this BC option is switched ON then user cannot manually create instances of BusinessAttribute from UI because this data will be replicated from SAP CRM.

The path for this activity is Communication and Information Exchange -> Integration with External Applications and Solutions -> Integration of Master Data ->

Do you want to work in your system with marketing attributes from SAP CRM.

13.jpg

Maintain Measurements in Registered Product UI:

Now we're ready to start maintaining measurements for a Registered Product.

As you can see in below image the Registered Product has a facet called Measurements .

Here we can maintain the reading types (or measurement logs)  and its corresponding readings .

First we maintain measurement logs . For instance , we can create a log called Odometer Reading by using the measurement attribute Distance Traveled .

Multiple measurement logs can be maintained for a particular Registered Product .

Note ;

The corresponding object in SAP ERP is called Measuring Point and it can be replicated from SAP ERP to SAP C4C .

The Business Object in SAP C4C is called MeasurementPoint and it's available in Cloud Application Studio .

9.jpg

10.jpg

The last step is to maintain readings . Multiple readings can be maintained for a measurement log .

For instance , after servicing the car the technician can maintain the odometer reading along with the date on which this reading was taken .

11.jpg

As you can see , for the measurement log Odometer Reading , 2 readings have been created corresponding to the 2 times the vehicle has been serviced.

12.jpg

Note ;

The corresponding object in SAP ERP is called Measurement Document and it can be replicated from SAP ERP to SAP C4C .

The Business Object in SAP C4C is called MeasurementDocument and it's available in Cloud Application Studio .

Create Tab Menu for BO & Webi reports in BI Launchpad using BI Workspace

Objective: Create Tab Menu for reports instead of providing reports in Folders.

Introduction: BI Workspace is customizable interface which allow multiple documents like Dashboard, Webi reports and other documents together into a single viewand the same can be deliver to specific groups or users. We can make own Menu tabs for report and create multiple workspaces for specific group of users like sales users, management users etc as per business requirement.

Create BI Workspace:

Step 1: Login into BI launch pad with administrator rights, click on Application and then BI Workspace.

Step 2: Now add new tab and set the column and put the name as per requirement. (We can add multiple tab or sub tabs)

Note: in this scenario, two tabs ‘Sales Reports’ and ‘Inventory Reports’ are added, In Sales Reports tab further two sub tabs are added as ‘BO Report-1’ and ‘BO Report-2’

Step 3: Now Navigate to public module in Module Library (Left side)

Step 4: Open the folder in which Dashboard and Webi reports are saved and then drag and drop on the workspace background.

Step 5: Save the BI Workspace in public folder.

Step 6: Change BI Launch pad preferences for specific users or group as per requirement.

Hope this Document helps to create Menu base tabs in SAP BI Launch pad. Suggestion and comments are welcome which help to improve this Documents.

Thanks,

Kashif Ali Khan

Certification opportunities for SAP S/4HANA, on-premise edition 1511

$
0
0

SAP S/4 HANA, on-premise edition 1511 has been released on November 11 and SAP ICC offers the following certification scenarios:

  • S/4-ABAP 1511
  • S/4-HCM-LOC 1511
  • S/4-B2B-OCI 1.0
  • S/4-HR-PDC 1.0
  • S/4-LE-IDW 1.0
  • S/4-PP-PDC 1.0
  • S/4-QM-IDI 1.0
  • S/4-TAX-US 1.0
  • S/4-WM-LSR 1.0

The functional scope and the pricing for the certification service will remain the same as for the corresponding scenario offered for SAP Business Suite. To learn more about this just visit the corresponding scenario page, like HR-PDC for S/4-HR-PDC. You can get an overview of all scenarios here.

Scenarios which require a SAP NetWeaver standalone installation only, are not affected. Here re-certification is only required if an integration scenario has been changed from SAP NetWeaver 7.40 to 7.50

Because SAP S/4HANA is a brand new product, no existing application specific certification will be valid for S/4HANA, so a re-certification will be required for the above mentioned scenarios.

SAP S/4HANA is SAPs next-generation business suite, it is not a legal successor of any SAP Business Suite product. It is a new product completely built on one of the most advanced in-memory platform today - SAP HANA - and modern design principles with the SAP Fiori user experience (UX). SAP S/4HANA delivers massive simplifications (customer adoption, data model, user experience, decision making, business processes, and models) and innovations (Internet of Things, Big Data, business networks, and mobile-first) to help businesses Run Simple in the digital economy.

In the approach to build SAP S/4HANA, SAP is re-architecting its solution for modern business processes demanded by an increasing digitization of the world. Re-architecting a solution that has been growing over the past 25 years means and sometimes evolved into different data structures and architectures means as well that we have to decide on one data structure and architecture moving forward. This is the only way how we can prepare the solution for more simplicity and faster innovation cycles.

More detailed information on these changes can be found here:

- http://help.sap.com/s4hana_op_1511, then go to Simplification List

- How to analyze and adjust Custom code for S/4HANA

- SAP S4/HANA Extensibility for Customers and Partners Whitepaper

Certified products will get the following logo:

Getting Started wth the Attribute Editor in SAP IT Operations Analytics 2.0

$
0
0

SAP IT Operations Analytics 2.0 has just been released and is available for download in SAP Software Download Center.

You can find the documentation at http://help.sap.com/itoa.

The product comes with a set of rules that are used to convert the raw syslog events into messages with attributes. If required, you can use the attribute editor to define your own rules for extracting additional attributes and then use these attributes for enhanced filtering.

Basic experience with regular expressions is required to create custom rules. The example below assumes that you have this experience and now want to get started with the attribute editor in SAP ITOA 2.0.

Example: How to create a custom rule

Scenario

In our example system, we are collecting a number of metrics on the monitored hosts. The metrics are forwarded through syslog into SAP ITOA. We'll now define a new rule to parse the "used memory" on these hosts, which we can then use to do further analytics.

In our example, the raw message is: <13>Dec 15 14:20:01 myhostname logger 217304924 used memory.

The goal is to extract the value (217304924) and add it as the attribute "usedmemory".

Step 1

From the table view, select a message containing the string you would like to use as a search pattern and click the button GET MORE INSIGHTS.

In this example, we select the message "<13>Dec 15 14:20:01 myhostname logger 217304924 used memory".

01e_RegExp_15-12-2015 15-21-06.png

Step 2

Enter a name and a description for the new rule, and then copy (with Ctrl C, Ctrl V) the text you want to use as a basis for your regular expression to the Regular Expression field.

In the example, we have entered 'usedmemory" for both the rule name and the rule description, and copied the snippet 'logger 217304924 used memory'.

02_RegExp_15-12-2015 15-23-25.png

Step 3

In the Regular Expression field, mark off where the regular expression will be with curly brackets, and then press TAB.

The curly brackets have a two-fold purpose:

  • The content within them is the attribute name that will be displayed in the bucket for filtering purposes.
  • They act as a placeholder for the regular expression itself.

In the example, we have replaced the value (217304924) with the placeholder: 'logger {usedmemory} used memory'.
04_RegExp_15-12-2015 15-24-35.png

Step 4

Pressing TAB causes all the placeholders to be displayed in the table at the bottom.

Select an attribute type (in the example, we use NVARCHAR), enter a matching regular expression in the Attribute RegExp field (in the example, we use (.*)?), and then click Test to check that it matches the test string.

05_RegExp_15-12-2015 15-25-09.png

Step 5

The identified attributes are displayed in different colors, both within the message and on the right where you see all attribute names as well as the parsed values.

07_RegExp_15-12-2015 15-26-27.png

To save the rule and apply it to new incoming messages, click Save (bottom right).

In the dialog box select Activate Now and click Save.

08_RegExp_15-12-2015 15-27-19.png

Step 6

Go to the bucket when you can now filter via the new attribute.

ADS Cluster – Allocation Unit Size

$

0

The general thinking is that a 64K cluster size would be a good choice if the server is targeted mainly as a database server and if the drive is a traditional hard drive (spinning rather than an SSD). The reduced physical fragmentation would provide some valuable performance gains. But there are a couple of things to consider:

- First is the ISAM table format that Advantage uses.
- Records are contiguous in a table and do not correspond to any cluster size; it is purely based on record size.
- It is possible that certain operations (individual record updates in particular) might have better performance with a small cluster size.
- An operation that reads and then updates one single record might be faster if the record resides on a 4K cluster as opposed to a 64K cluster.
- With a physical spinning disk, the bulk of the cost is latency, but it would still take a bit longer to physically read/write a 64K cluster vs a 4K cluster for a single record update.

Index files are another consideration. The page size for indexes is relatively small (they can be up to 4K for the Advantage proprietary table format). If the index is logically fragmented (index pages that are logically adjacent are not physically adjacent on disk), then reading one page after another might be faster with a small cluster size. A re-index operation, though, can fix this and put pages back in logical order.

What are SAP Fiori Reference Apps?

The SAP Fiori Reference Apps are sample applications that help developers and designers with their development projects.

  • Developers
Both new and experienced SAP Fiori developers can see real working code and live examples covering all layers end-to end. They go far beyond typical "Hello World" examples and aim to provide best practices.
  • Designers
UX Designers can find examples of how SAP Fiori patterns and controls are being implemented in typical use cases and discover the interaction flow of typical SAP Fiori business apps. They can see how the individual controls function in a live scenario.

The SAP Fiori Reference Apps demonstrate the development and UX Design guidelines and best practices applicable to the SAP Fiori development lifecycle. This covers the entire end-to-end process from design and technology to coding principles, from OData modeling to implementation, as well as selected product standards such as performance, and extensibility. The SAP Fiori Reference Apps are based on the Enterprise Procurement Model (EPM).

Shop

shop.jpg

Shop is an example of a transactional app in full screen mode.

It allows you to browse the product catalog and add products to your shopping cart. When you check out, a sales order is created.

Please use this link to check out the detailed description of the app.

Approve Purchase Order

approve_po.jpg

Approve Purchase Orders is a transactional app following the Split Screen layout.

You can check the list of purchase order assigned to you and approve or reject them.

The Approve Purchase Order App is a typical approval app.

Please use this link to check out the detailed description of the app.

Manage Products

ProductList.png

Manage Products is a transactional app using the master/detail pattern.

You can find products, apply changes to the data or delete them. In addition you can create new products.

This app shows you how to implement the draft concept. The draft concept manages to avoid data loss when closing the web browser before saving the data.

Please use this linkto check out the detailed description of the app.

How to get access to the SAP Fiori Reference Apps?

The SAP Fiori Reference Apps consist of two parts.

  • The UI part
You can have a look at the UI part of the reference apps using the SAP Web IDE. It is included there in version 1.6. For more information about the SAP Web IDE, please refer to this SCN document.
  • The backend part
The backend includes the OData services that belong to the reference apps. They are part of the SAP Netweaver 7.40 SP10.
    • The OData services for Shop and Manage Products require SAP HANA
    • the Approve Purchase Order OData service works with any database.

Note: To run the UI of the reference apps it is not essential to have the backend available. You are able to run the code with mock data as well.

Steps to get it…

    1. If you don´t have a licence for the SAP Web IDE…. get your SAP Web IDE Cloud trial access via the SAP HANA Marketplace.
    2. Follow this step-by-step guide to run any of the SAP Fiori Reference Apps with demo data (mock data).
    3. Optional: If you want to run the Reference Apps against a real backend system, please follow this guide.

Build a VB.Net DataTable out of an SAPBouiCOM Matrix

$
0
0

This is a method that I wrote that's fairly simple, but that I'm proud of for its simplicity. It takes in a reference to our AddOnApp, the pVal ItemEvent, the UID for the specific Matrix that you want to work with, and the UID for the "key field" that must be populated for a row to be a valid row. Then it spits back out a VB.net DataTable:

''' <summary>

''' Builds a VB.NET DataTable based on an SAP form Matrix

''' </summary>

''' <param name="oAddOnApp">A reference to the AddOnApp</param>

''' <param name="pVal">A reference to the ItemEvent pVal</param>

''' <param name="sMatrixUID">The UID for the matrix (different for different types of forms)</param>

''' <param name="sKeyFieldID">The UID for the "Key" Field, the one that must be populated for it to be a valid row</param>

''' <returns>A VB.Net DataTable clone of the SAP matrix</returns>

''' <remarks>This method was primarily built so that we can query the data in the matrix without having to constantly go through it. Use the DT.Select statement</remarks>

Public Shared Function buildMatrixTable(ByRef oAddOnApp As IAddOnApp, ByRef pVal As SAPbouiCOM.ItemEvent, ByVal sMatrixUID As String, ByVal sKeyFieldID As String) As DataTable

Dim oForm As SAPbouiCOM.Form = Nothing

Dim oMatrix As SAPbouiCOM.Matrix = Nothing

    Try

        Dim oDT As New DataTable

        oForm = oAddOnApp.SBO_Application.Forms.GetForm(pVal.FormType, pVal.FormTypeCount)

        oMatrix = oForm.Items.Item(sMatrixUID).Specific

'Add all of the columns by unique ID to the DataTable

        For iCol As Integer = 0 To oMatrix.Columns.Count - 1

            'Skip invisible columns

If oMatrix.Columns.Item(iCol).Visible = False Then Continue For

            oDT.Columns.Add(oMatrix.Columns.Item(iCol).UniqueID)

        Next

'Now, add all of the data into the DataTable

For iRow As Integer = 1 To oMatrix.RowCount

Dim oRow As DataRow = oDT.NewRow

            For iCol As Integer = 0 To oMatrix.Columns.Count - 1

If oMatrix.Columns.Item(iCol).Visible = False Then Continue For

                oRow.Item(oMatrix.Columns.Item(iCol).UniqueID) = oMatrix.Columns.Item(iCol).Cells.Item(iRow).Specific.Value

            Next

'If the Key field has no value, then the row is empty, skip adding it.

            If oRow(sKeyFieldID).ToString.Trim = "" Then Continue For

            oDT.Rows.Add(oRow)

        Next

        Return oDT

    Catch ex As Exception

        AsapSharedClasses.ErrorLog.AddEntryWithTrace(ex)

        Return Nothing

    Finally

'releaseCOMobject is our method that checks if an SAPBouiObject is Nothing or not, and if it's not Nothing,

'uses System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ReleaseComObject to release it from memory, and then sets it to nothing.

'This prevents memory leaks in the program from unreleased COM objects.

        NewSharedMethods.releaseCOMobject(oMatrix)

        NewSharedMethods.releaseCOMobject(oForm)

    End Try

End Function

Now, why would you want to do this? Well, we are constantly doing checks on the user's Add/Update to verify certain information within the form to see if it's correct (using our own validation methods). This method will help us simplify this. Instead of having to go through the UI API multiple times and looping through the rows and columns to find the data we're looking for, instead we can do it just once, and then we can use the VB.NET DataTable to do some interesting things.

Specifically, we can use the DataTable.Select method to query for the specific rows and data that we want to find. Below is an example validateForm method that I wrote for a Bill of Materials form to validate that if there is a "labor" line and an "overhead" line, that the labor is not greater than the overhead:

Private Function validateForm(ByRef pVal As SAPbouiCOM.ItemEvent, ByRef BubbleEvent As Boolean) As Boolean

        Try

'Pull the matrix into a DataTable for querying

            Me.m_dtMatrix = NewSharedMethods.buildMatrixTable(Me.AddOnApp, pVal, CONSTANTS.BOM_MATRIX, CONSTANTS.BOM_MATRIX_ITEM_CODE_COL)

'Make sure that there's not more than one WIPLABOR line item on the form

'Note the brackets that are used here that are necessary in case the column name includes spaces or starts with a number. The brackets

'denote to the Select statement that the contents within the brackets are in fact a column name, rather than a value/variable to compare.

            Dim oWIPLABORrows() As DataRow = Me.m_dtMatrix.Select("[" & CONSTANTS.BOM_MATRIX_ITEM_CODE_COL & "]" & "='WIPLABOR'")

If oWIPLABORrows IsNot Nothing AndAlso oWIPLABORrows.Length > 1 Then

Me.AddOnApp.showMessageBoxWithOverride("Error, there is more than one WIPLABOR line. Only one is allowed, please correct.", BubbleEvent)

                If BubbleEvent Then

                    Email.sendWarningEmail(Me.m_ClassName & "." & System.Reflection.MethodInfo.GetCurrentMethod.Name,

"BoM was overridden to allow more than one WIPLABOR row.", False)

                Else

                    Return False

                End If

            End If

'Make sure that there's not more than one WIP O/H line item on the form

            Dim oWIPOHrows() As DataRow = Me.m_dtMatrix.Select("[" & CONSTANTS.BOM_MATRIX_ITEM_CODE_COL & "]" & "='WIP O/H'")

If oWIPOHrows IsNot Nothing AndAlso oWIPOHrows.Length > 1 Then

Me.AddOnApp.showMessageBoxWithOverride("Error, there is more than one WIP O/H line. Only one is allowed, please correct.", BubbleEvent)

                If BubbleEvent Then

                    Email.sendWarningEmail(Me.m_ClassName & "." & System.Reflection.MethodInfo.GetCurrentMethod.Name,

"BoM was overridden to allow more than one WIP O/H row.", False)

                Else

                    Return False

                End If

            End If

'Prevent the WIPLABOR from being greater than the WIP O/H

If oWIPLABORrows IsNot Nothing AndAlso oWIPOHrows IsNot Nothing Then

'Get the strings from the total price fields - note that we are always only using the FIRST found row of these values.

'As per Todd, if there exists more than one row and they overrode it, we will only use the value of the first row for this check.

                Dim sLabor As String = oWIPLABORrows(0).Field(Of String)(CONSTANTS.BOM_MATRIX_TOTAL_PRICE_COL)

                Dim sOH As String = oWIPOHrows(0).Field(Of String)(CONSTANTS.BOM_MATRIX_TOTAL_PRICE_COL)

'Try to convert the strings to decimals

                sLabor = sLabor.Replace("$", "").Trim

                sOH = sOH.Replace("$", "").Trim

Dim dLabor As Decimal = 0.0

Dim dOH As Decimal = 0.0

'Compare the decimals. If the Labor is greater than the O/H, report and abort

If Decimal.TryParse(sLabor, dLabor) AndAlso Decimal.TryParse(sOH, dOH) Then

                    If dLabor > dOH Then

                        Me.AddOnApp.showMessageBoxWithOverride("Labor charge of " & dLabor.ToString & " is greater than the overhead charge of " & dOH.ToString & ". " & _

"This is not allowed. Please correct and try again.", BubbleEvent)

                        If BubbleEvent Then

                            Email.sendWarningEmail(Me.m_ClassName & "." & System.Reflection.MethodInfo.GetCurrentMethod.Name,

"BoM was overridden to allow WIPLABOR > WIP O/H.", False)

                        Else

                            Return False

                        End If 'BubbleEvent Then

End If 'dLabor > dOH Then

End If 'Decimal.TryParse(sLabor, dLabor) AndAlso Decimal.TryParse(sOH, dOH) Then

End If 'oWIPLABORrows IsNot Nothing AndAlso oWIPOHrows IsNot Nothing Then

'If we got here, then everything checks out, return true

            Return True

        Catch ex As Exception

            AsapSharedClasses.ErrorLog.AddEntryWithTrace(ex)

            Return False

        End Try

    End Function

The CONSTANTS you see in the code are our direct references to the UIDs of UI API columns and other UI API objects. By using the buildMatrixTable method right at the start, as you can see, this validation method doesn't require any looping. That means less overall calls to SAP to check the UI (just one big call at the start), then the rest of the checks/etc. can be done entirely in memory.

I feel that this method will benefit us greatly in the future, not just in this instance, but in future instances when we need to "rip" data out of a matrix that hasn't yet been committed to the SAP database, but that we would like to go through and process to follow business rules.

Message discriminator is responsible for determining type of the message. Based on passed xml it returns string with workflow type. Message discriminator logic is located in an MEINT java class. Default name for most of the message is a local name of root xml node. But some of the messages are handled individually. Please see below custom logic which exist at the moment in discriminator:

It can be customized by a custom discriminator. Custom discriminator is specified in MEINT Global Configuration as SAPMEINT_PartnerMessageDiscriminatorTxn or SAPMEINT_CustomerMessageDiscriminatorTxn parameter. In case custom discriminator is specified it is called first, if it returns empty value then base discriminator is invoked. Custom discriminator can be done only as an MII transaction. In order to help to create custom discriminator  there is an MII transaction which contains required input and output parameters Visiprise\ERPShopFloorIntegration\frame\discriminators\IMessageDiscriminator.trx

This note from SAP SE is regarding the planned SAP Cloud for Customer – February 2016 Release and describes planned changes to the way organizational structures are managed in SAP Cloud for Customer. The note highlights some of the steps that need to be undertaken before the planned February 2016 upgrade of SAP Cloud for Customer.

Simplification. Performance. Flexibility.

SAP SE has simplified and optimized the process for creating and maintaining organizational structures

  • You will no longer have to take the additional step of activating your structure or the org units within it as all changes are automatically active and the system works off the validity dates directly.
  • The user interface will use the same pattern as is used for territory management—so you can manage your org structure using the worklist and details screens you’re already familiar with.
  • The optimization will improve the overall performance related to replication and maintenance of org structures.
  • The solution is planned to be enhanced to allow for the deletion of org units.
  • Distribution channels will be maintained via the org structure for Sales Organizations—you’ll no longer need to work through the organizational work distribution rules to set this up.
  • If you work with the SDK, you’ll no longer need to use positions when working with the organizational model.

Why is SAP SE making these changes?

  • Performance: optimizing for SAP Cloud for Customer will improve performance, particularly around maintenance/changes to the org structure
  • Flexibility: by simplifying the data model and aligning the user interface, we are able to support org unit deletion as well as plan for further future enhancements (like multi-assignment of employees to org units)

What does this mean for you?

  • In order for all of your organization structure data to migrate during the February 2016 release upgrade, YOU MUST ACTIVATE ALL OF YOUR ORG STRUCTURE UNITSprior to the upgrade of test tenants.
  • If any org units are still inactive at the time of the migration, you’ll need to recreate them.

Not much else will change after the upgrade.

  • No impact on the existing objects using org structure data
  • No impact on object-specific determinations that use org structure data
  • No impact on integration or related mapping
  • No impact on user authorizations
  • No impact on workflow or routing rules
