You like to be in the front row and experience the new features firsthand? We have recently opened up nominations for customers, who want to participate in the Ramp-Up for SAP Business Warehouse 7.5, edition for SAP HANA.

Please note that the Ramp-Up program only adresses the SAP BW 7.5, edition for SAP HANA which starts with release of SP01 planned for 23.Nov.2015.

All other features of SAP BW 7.5 powered by SAP HANA are generally available as of SP00 planned for 12.Oct.2015 without Ramp-Up.

The Ramp-Up of SAP BW 7.5, edition for SAP HANA mainly targets customers who want to perform a New Install/Greenfield implementation or are on BW 7.4 powered by SAP HANA already and mainly leverage the HANA optimized BW objects.

NWBC Feature Request and Improvement Register

$

The purpose of this document is to have a place to capture ideas for feature requests and product improvements around The NetWeaver Business Client (NWBC).

Feel free to add items to the list, add columns to the table etc... this is a community resource to own (please read to make sure your idea or a similar one isn't already here before adding it).

This is open to everyone and I don't necessarily expect SAP to deliver any of these suggestions, so you shouldn't either. But hopefully SAP will take the list into consideration when possible.

UPDATE, 30th March, 2015: (Julie Plummer, Product Manager, NWBC): Hi everyone, I am sorry to hijack Simon's blog; I don't usually do this, but I don't want this message to get lost in the comments:

We are not planning to offer a Customer Connection in the near future. Our main development efforts are focused on NWBC-Fiori integration, at least till the end of this year.

Best wishes, Julie R Plummer.

1Context aware Quick LaunchIn the current NWBC 4.0 release when you type a t-code in the Quick Launch bar it always tries to open that t-code in the main NWBC system (the role system). In some cases it would make more sense from the user perspective to try to launch the t-code in the system they currently have open in the canvas area of NWBC. Since NWBC lets you open transactions in remote systems you may for example have an SRM system open and want to run an SRM t-code that doesn't exist in your NWBC role system (e.g. ECC).Simon Kemp
2Dynamic placement of Link Collection foldersIt would be nice if the Link Collection folders were displayed in the menu panel of the NWBC aligned with the end of the menu tree. Currently the Link Collection is placed down at the bottom of the menu panel and there can be a lot of empty white space between the end of the menu tree and the start of the Link Collection folders.Simon Kemp

14Favourites ManagementEnable SAP Favourites defined by end users against composite role menu entries to not become corrupted when roles are adjusted and changed.  (Currently work by referencing node identifiers that are changed when composite roles are changed).  Not an ideal scenario, with the only alternative to use single roles as the provisioning option.

Dianne Wheeler

15Menu ManagementAllow flexibility around how menu settings are able to be defined; folders sorting (alpha or folder sort priority) transactions sorted (technical name or text), all folders at the top/bottom, all transactions at the top/bottom, This would be especially relevant when defining how the merging logic is managed, for example managing the merge of two or more roles beyond the current sorting priorities.Dianne Wheeler
16Quick launch Box - Open up for allowing Enhancement (e.g. Input parameters)The Quicklaunch box (aka Omnibox) today only accept a very limited amount of parameters (e.g. /n, /o; search engine etc); it would be great if it could be enhanced to accept more input parameters e.g.  program variants (e.g. VA01 /vA1 -> execute Tcode with variant A1), default field values (e.. VA03 /f328800 -> Start VA03 with sales order # 328800). It would be best if it could be open up for guided enhancement by clients.Damean Chen
17NWBC HTML - Side Panel and left navigational panelSide Panel & the left Navigational panel (Both Favorites and Role based) is currently available on NWBC for Windows only. Would be great if this could be included as part of NWBC for HTML too.Damean Chen
18Index Page - Allow user to personalize Work Center\RoleIn the default NWBC Index page, user have no  control for display of the Work Center Roles display. It would be great if user could be given the rights to do some basic changes to this Roles on the Index Page e.g. Hide Roles that they don't need, Move Roles Up\Down the page depending on their personal preferences, Relabel the roles to something more applicable for them, Change the Font (Bold, Color, italic) display of the Role to highlight what's the importance  etc

20User inputAfter opening a new tab via shortcut (ctrl + t), the input field is not in focus and not ready to enter a transaction directly. That's quiet annoying, because you have to move the cursor everytime by hand. There is even a shortcut to get the inputfield in focus, but ctrl + alt + L is not really useful. Getting the inputfield in focus automatically after opening a new tab would be nice. SAP GUI also behaves this way.Mark Wilmowsky
21System Selection dialog box
  1. Allow administrators to specify order of entries.  We currently number our entries for sorting purposes (01, 02, etc.).  This allows us to group systems (PRD, DEV, QAS) by landscape.
  2. Allow multiple views.  This will be controlled using buttons on top of the system selection dialog box.

The default view would be for all end users and would show ONLY entries for PRD systems.

A training view would show ONLY training systems or PRD and training systems (configurable).

An all systems view would show all systems (PRD, DEV, QAS, Training, Test, etc.)

Roy Brasse
22Use Index page column space more effectivelyThe columns under the work centres on the index page should adjust more dynamically to the space available on the screen, instead of being a fixed width. It looks silly to have the menu items squashed into the fixed with columns (some items with long texts spanning multiple lines) while there is a heap of empty space to the right of the last column. This should adjusted more dynamically.Simon Kemp
23Enhance PFCG based CHIP to include Parameter Tag

Currently, it's possible to add Dynpro transaction entries from their PFCG roles as a side panel chip. This type of ABAP based PFCG CHIP even support the use of Query String to specify screen fields. Regrettably it's NOT easy to pass information from the Canvas to this Query String; also PFCG CHIP Import parameters does NOT come with a Parameter Tag; hence tagging (i.e. Transfer of info from Canvas to CHIP) is not possible.

If SAP could enhance this capability to automatically accept the Dynpro Screen Field as Import Parameters; then all DynPro transaction\programs will now be open to be used as Side Panel CHIP.

Damean Chen
24Help Center for DynPro as Side Panel

Would like to have the option of displaying both Dyn Pro and Web Dynpro as Side Panel Content

Currently, Only Help Center called from Web Dynpro App could be displayed as Side Panel App. Help Center that's called from Dynpro (i.e. ABAP) transactions could only be displayed in a separate popup window.

System Selection

26Compatability view setting in NWBCThe webui client in CRM uses compatablility view when you upgrade IE to version 10 or 11, this causes troubles if you launch CRM via NWBC for desktop as this setting isn't supported in NWBC. That means that you can't open CRM using NWBC for desktop if you have more than IE 9 installed on your computer.Jakob Kjær
27Open URLs from SAP GUI in NWBC tabWhen using NWBC 5.0 as entry point instead of SAP logon you simply logon to the SAP system and get a tabbed experience. But when executing a web link in the user menu it opens in an external web browser and not embedded in NWBC. I would like NWBC to capture Web-links and embed them as tabs to maximize user experience in simple transition into NWBC.Fredrik Borlie
28System Message SM02 visible in indexpageSystem Message SM02 for NWBC 5.0 (Desktop) visible in indexpage (splash), also for customers with SSO implementation.Patrick Lanz
29Pre generate NWBC menus for usersThere is program /ui2/nwbc_delete_menu_cache to delete the NWBC menu cache for all users. This then results in a bit of a wait for each user when they logon again after this program is run. It would be nice if there was a way we could run a program to re-populate the menu cache for each user to avoid this delay for users.Simon Kemp
30Custom icons on index pageIt should be possible to change icons on the index page to custom icons. The service map symbol/Work center icon parameters on the PFCG roles already contains fields for this. Please extend them to handle references to the mime repository, e.g. following  http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw74/helpdata/en/49/ef8f4213ad28f9e10000000a42189c/content.htmRasmus Ørtoft
31Version check in backendIt would be of great help if there would be a function that could be enabled in the backend that blocks the user from logging on if the GUI used is not the "approved" version. There are always some users not getting updates and getting such a blocking feature would force them to contact the support in order to use the system. (I know this is more backend development but I take the opportunity to raise the request/idea).Fredrik Borlie
32Same favorites on multiple SIDsProvide a possibility to have the same NWBC favorites over multiple SIDs (e.g. PRD, QAS, DEV). Currently, system-dependent favorites have to be made manually on each of the SIDs which is tedious for consultants or developers.Wolfgang Essmayr
33Back button like in browserProvide a back- (and forward-button) like we are used to have in browsers. Button should be enabled for web-based contents (incl. WDA) in canvas. Long-press on button should allow for multiple steps back (and forward).Wolfgang Essmayr
34Option for exclude client number in system info in tab title

It's a very helpful feature since NWBC5, that you man optionally show system information in the tab title containing  SID(n)/ccc where n is the modus number and ccc is the client number.

  • Settings / Personalize...

Settings-Personalize-Other.jpg

  • client number modus numbers in tab title

System-info-in-tab-title.jpg

However, it would be great, to have an option to include/exclude the client number.

Additional information from SAP Help Portal – The central place for SAP documentation is given below:

Program RFCHKN10 is a continuation of program RFCHKN00. The user can configure the output of the list. The program generates a list of all check registers belonging to one paying company code, (prenumbered checks), if they fulfil the given selection criteria. The list is sorted by payment method and check number with manually voided checks at the start and manually issued checks at the end. This order of output is the default, but can be altered by the user.

Output

You can create various lists. For example:

  1. Complete List of a Company Code

          You only enter the company code. Further selection conditions could include the specification of a bank account or the creation period.

2. Complete List with Line Item Information

          In addition to 1., you have to select the parameter that controls the output of the paid items.

3. List of Outstanding Checks

          If, in addition to 1. you select "List of Outstanding Checks" those checks that are not yet cashed are listed.

4. Payment Summary for a Payment Run

          The run date of the paying company code, and, (if the run is not clearly indicated by the date), run ID of the payment run have to be entered. If the check           register with the print run of the payment program is scheduled, a variant must first be created in order that the paying company code be specified. The           remaining parameters (date and identifier) are entered by the payment program if program RFCHKN00 is entered with this variant before the start of the           print programs under "Lists".

5. Payment Summary for an Extract Run

          If, for the purposes of an external data transfer, a data extract is created with a database update, a list can then be called up showing all checks for           which information is contained in the extract. In addition to the paying company code, the extract date must be entered, and, (in the event that several           extracts were created on one day), the time when the extract was created.

6. List of all Genuine Checks

          Here you enter the initial value of the void reason code in the selection options (single value SPACE or 00).

7. List of all Voided Checks

          Similarly, you have to keep the initial value out of the selection option for the void reason code.

8. List of Payroll Checks

          If prenumbered checks are used in the Human Resources department, it is possible to generate a list that is seperate from Financial Accounting. You           can also choose between list types such as complete lists, lists of outstanding checks, lists per payment run or extract.

9. In addition, you can select according to issuing amount or issuer, (also in conjunction with the aforementioned variants).

10. The user can display line items for checks for all listed possible entries. In this case, choose the indicator "With line items" After setting the indicator you can enter display variants. These have to be maintained prior to this. The organizational possibilities offered by the output list can be called up in program RFCHKN10 using the ABAP List Viewer. You can find a comprehensive description of user-relevant tool operation in the SAP Library under CO Controlling -> Cost Center Accounting -> Information System Cost Center Accounting -> ABAP List Viewer.

Getting Started with Kapsel - Part 6 -- Logger (SP09+)

$

sap-logo.png

Logger

The easiest way to log a message in a Kapsel app that is being run on a device or emulator is to use the console.log method.

console.log("Log this");

  This method works in Kapsel apps and in regular web apps being debugged on the desktop using Chrome.
Note the two screenshots below show a message being logged following the call to console.log in monitor.bat which is part of the Android SDK and in Xcode.
image1.PNG

image2.PNG

Note that in an iOS Cordova app, it requires adding the console plugin, the import of cordova.js, and will only work after the deviceready event is fired.  You may also need to execute the following bit of code as mentioned in console.log not working.

if (window.cordova.logger) {    window.cordova.logger.__onDeviceReady();
}

The console plugin can be added with the cordova plugin add command.

cordova plugin add cordova-plugin-console

For Android, a log tag filter can be applied to only show messages logged from chromium.
image9.PNG

Note it is also possible to exclude certain tags from the view by entering a regular expression such as

tag:^(?!(AndroidRuntime|linker|memtrack|dalvikvm|android.os.Debug|jdwp|SoundPool|AudioService|eglCodecCommon))

image10.PNG

If using an Android device or simulator, the Android log file can be retrieved from the device using adb which is part of the Android SDK.

adb logcat > C:\temp\log.txt

On iOS simulators and devices, the output from console.log can be seen in the All Output view in Xcode.
On devices, the console log can also be viewed by connecting the device to a Mac and in Xcode choosing Window > Device and if needed click on the up-triangle at the bottom left.
image8.PNG

The Kapsel logger plugin saves messages logged using console.log into a separate log file that can be emailed from the device, viewed on the device, or uploaded to an SMP server via the following commands.

sap.Logger.emailLog()
sap.Logger.getLogEntries()
sap.Logger.upload()

As of SP10, it also has a method to clear the log.

sap.Logger.clearLog()

The Kapsel log level can be set.

sap.Logger.setLogLevel(sap.Logger.DEBUG)

The default log level is ERROR.
Note the log level once set is persistent between application restarts.

The logger plugin will only save messages that are logged at a higher level than the apps current log level.  For example if the log level is sap.Logger.WARN and a message is logged at the DEBUG level, it will not be saved to the log.

Messages can be logged  at one of four levels (Debug, Info, Warn or Error) using

sap.Logger.debug("Message to be logged at DEBUG level");  or console.debug("Message to be logged at DEBUG level");
sap.Logger.info("Message to be logged at INFO level");    or console.log or console.info("Message to be logged at INFO level");
sap.Logger.warn("Message to be logged at WARN level");    or console.warn("Message to be logged at WARN level");
sap.Logger.error("Message to be logged at ERROR level");  or console.error("Message to be logged at ERROR level");

For additional details on the Logger plugin, see C:\SAP\MobileSDK3\KapselSDK\docs\api\sap.Logger.html or Using the Logon Plugin.

The following steps will demonstrate this plugin.

  • Follow the steps shown in Configuring a Kapsel App in the Management Cockpitto create an Application with the application id of
    com.mycompany.logger
      This app does not use an OData endpoint so that can be set to a dummy URL such as
    http://mycompany.com
    and add the Basic SSO mechanism.

  • Create the project and add the logger plugin.
    cordova create C:\Kapsel_Projects\LoggerDemo com.mycompany.logger LoggerDemo
    cd LoggerDemo
    cordova platform add android
    cordova plugin add kapsel-plugin-logger --searchpath %KAPSEL_HOME%/plugins

    cordova create ~/Documents/Kapsel_Projects/LoggerDemo com.mycompany.logger LoggerDemo
    cd ~/Documents/Kapsel_Projects/LoggerDemo
    cordova platform add ios
    cordova plugin add kapsel-plugin-logger --searchpath $KAPSEL_HOME/plugins

  • Replace www\index.html with index.html.

  • Prepare, build and deploy the app with the following command.
    cordova run android
    or
    cordova run ios
    image3.PNG

    Here are the results after setting the log level to INFO, Log using console.log, Log using sap.Logger at WARN level.

    image4.PNG

    image11.PNG

    As shown above on Android, a log filter can be used that filters on the Log Tag SMP_LOGGER.

  • Pressing the Upload Log button causes the log file to be uploaded to the server.
    In order for the call to sap.Logger.upload() to succeed, the Log Upload checkbox on the registration ID in the Management Cockpit must be checked.
    image7.PNG

    Note, the Log Type drop down in the Client Logging dialog can change the log level set for the application when used with the Settings plugin.
    It is possible to set the Log Upload to be enabled for each new registration via the Application > Client Policy > Client Log Policy settings.
    The log once uploaded to the SMP server can be viewed under Logs > Logs & Traces as shown below.

    image12.PNG

    Note, if an entry is logged, then upload is called, then another entry is logged and then upload is called, there may only be one log upload shown in the management cockpit rather than two log uploads.  In this case both log messages will appear in the first log upload.

  • Note that the log entries are in the List Log Format 2.0.

  • On Android, by default there are 10 log files with a default size of 100KB.  When all 10 log files are full, the first log file is erased and then written to.  When the log files are uploaded to the SMP server following a call to sap.Logger.upload, the logs on the device are erased.  The number of log files and the file size can be set in a properties file.
    C:\Kapsel_Projects\LoggerDemo\platforms\android\assets\sap-supportability.properties
    clientLogManager=com.sap.smp.client.supportability.log.ClientLogManagerImpl
    e2eTraceManager=com.sap.smp.client.supportability.e2e.E2ETraceManagerImpl
    file_size=102400
    file_count=10
    file_age=604800000
    The file_age is in milliseconds.  The default shown above is 7 days.  After seven days, the logs are erased.

    The log files can become full quickly so it is recommend to increase these settings.  The log files can be viewed on an emulator.
    image13.PNG

  • In addition to the application specific log file, there are logs that contain information about registration, deregistration, application settings, proxy, push etc. as shown below.
    Note, that the Status drop down is set to PATH(ALL) which lists all logged messages.  If it is set to debug, only debug messages will be shown and not warning or error level messages.

    image5.PNG

    Note, in order for this information to be captured, the component log level needs to be set and the Trace set to enabled as shown below.
    image6.PNG

    Finally there is a log file for the SMP server under the tab Log Files.

Role with SAP standard menu with blank transactions (inconsistency)

Sometimes, when we need the necesity to create a role using a SAP standard menu, we have the issue that the SAP standard menu assigned into the role contain empty/blank transacions, it produce a inconsistency in the authorization object S_TCODE assinging a blank space in the value of S_TCODE and put the status of the object in "Yellow". Example:

For remove this empty transactions of the our role menu, if we need a large menu, it will be very hard work, because identify the empty transactions in a big menu can to be hard task.

To identify this empty transactions quickly, the solution is mentioned in the following steps:

1. Go to table AGR_HIER (transaction SE16) and we select the following values:

     - AGR_NAME: The name of the role with the inconsistency (empty transactions)

     - REPORTYPE: TR

     - REPORT: (= blank value). This is the transaction code field.

1.jpg

2. When we display the table with the values selected, it display all transactions with blank transaction codes, we shoudl look the "TEXT" column where we can check the descriptions of this empty transactions:

2.jpg

3. When we have listed all descriptions of the empty transactions of our role, we will go toPFCG transaction searching the transactions in the role menu with the descriptions listed, with this, we can identify quickly the empty transactions and remove it of the role menu. Example:

1.jpg

2.jpg

3.jpg

4.jpg

4. When we searched the description of the empty transactions and removed it, to ensure, we return to the table AGR_HIER and check again it with the values mentioned in the previous point, now thie table should to be empty:

1.jpg

5. The last step, we will proceed to enter in the authorization of the role to re-save and re-genarte it and check that the autohrization object S_TCODE dont have any empty transaction and also the status of it are in "Green"

There is a demand to easily detect the SAP Business Objects which support Node Extension.

On the other hand we found no place in the Repository Explorer for Business Objects documentation to locate this information so you can see this at first glance.

Therefore I will present here a list of SAP Business Objects for SAP Business ByDesign as well for Cloud 4 Customer which supports Node Extension.

Please keep in mind that there is no claim on the completeness or correctness of this list as development could change some internal, technical factors which influence this list. Nevertheless I try to keep it up to date.

Captura3.JPG
